Chandrababu Naidu sees conspiracy to stall State’s development.

Accusing the Central government of hatching a conspiracy to curtail the development of the State by using the Opposition YSR Congress Party and the Jana Sena Party, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday called upon the people to elect 25 MPs from the TDP in the next general elections to help the party making the Special Category Status (SCS) a reality.

“Don’t encourage corrupt politicians and anti-social elements. Ensure your full support to the TDP. Otherwise, the State would become another Bihar after the general elections,” he said while addressing the ‘Dharma Poratam’ public meeting organized here to highlight the “injustice” done to the State by the Centre.“I don’t know why the Centre is showing partiality towards Andhra Pradesh. Why don’t they consider us as part of this nation?” Mr. Naidu asked, before urging the people to be firm on the demand of achieving SCS.

He alleged that the Centre was trying to downplay the ongoing movement for Kadapa steel plant, and that was why it released the video of a “private conversation” of the TDP MPs.Stating that the Centre had allocated mere ₹1,500 crore for the construction of Amaravati so far, Mr. Naidu said, “It is the responsibility of the Centre to construct the capital city and complete the Polavaram project. They also have to provide us the petrochemical project and educational institutions as per the Act,” he said.

Taking pot shots at YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and JSP president Pawan Kalyan, he said that both of them lacked basic knowledge, but were dancing to the tune of the BJP.On funding to the Polavaram project, he said ₹1,950 crore was yet to be released for the works that had already been completed. This apart, another ₹40,000 crore was to be sanctioned to complete the project. Questioning the rationale behind the “friendship” between the BJP and the YSRCP, Mr. Naidu demanded that the Centre confiscate the disproportionate assets owned by Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.“We are taking stern action against those who are resorting to corrupt practices. But the Centre has failed on this front, and Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi are classic examples,” he said.Mr. Naidu advised the BJP and the YSRCP not to use the Tirumala row to hatch the conspiracy against the State government, as it was the responsibility of everyone to protect the sanctity of the temple.
