Royal Challengers Bangalore beats Mumbai Indians by 14 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore players celebrate the wicket of JP Duminy of the Mumbai Indians during match thirty-one of the Vivo Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018) between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on the 1st May 2018.

Finally, there is a smile on Virat Kohli and Yes, the bowlers did it for their skipper. The quality presentation of bowling with new ball and old ball coupled with the superb spell from Yuzvendra Chahal turned the things in favour of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have been thrown into a war zone.Initially, it was Rohit Sharma who called it right at the toss asked the home side to set a total for the chase. Manan Vohra stated the things in a flash by smacking JP Duminy in the powerplay but it was a failure start for Quinton de Kock who was sent back by McClenaghan upfront. Surprisingly, Brendon McCullum walked in at the number 3 position by asking Virat to bat at number 4.

However, the brave call worked in the favour of RCB as Brendon smashed Mumbai bowlers to all corners of the park. Virat Kohli too gave his helping hand in ticking the scoreboard at a decent strike rate. Just when things looked in a great shape for RCB, Hardik made a grand turnaround by injecting a triple-wicket over into the innings but the blitz from Colin, in the end, boosted RCB to a respectable 167 on the board. In reply to the chase, Mumbai Indians got the early blows in the form of Ishan Kishan, Surya and Rohit Sharma who walked back in a quick succession. Interestingly, Mumbai sent Kieron Pollard ahead of Pandya brothers but it didn’t serve well as Pollard hung at the crease only to waste the deliveries.

Duminy and Hardik showed some fight to drive the ship in the winning ways but the bullet throw from Umesh Yadav once again gave a push to the team. Krunal Pandya found it tough to middle the ball while Siraj, Southee and fielders combined to the perfection of Mumbai Indians into a war zone.Contrastingly, Royal Challengers showed a great fight with their bowling and fielding tonight thus being on the right side of the things. Tim Southee, Siraj, Umesh and Chahal bowled exceptionally who gave away 25,28,29 and 23 respectively. All the three pacers grabbed a couple of wickets to their names while fielding has been top-notch from the unit. However, the win ensured, Royal Challengers to stay in the hunt for securing a spot in the top 4. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians are in such a state where the loss will draw curtains on their defence of the championship title.
